Mmm. Yummy. And very good for healthy fishies.

I've never tried making my own fish food, although I've heard recipes many times. Some say to make up a paste, spread it on a tank-friendly stone and let it dry, and then put the food-covered stone in the tank for the fish to graze on. How do you feed your homemade food, Merls?

Yes, yummy. The fishes love it...so much they seem to pout when I give them TetraFin pellets.

I've never heard of this stone method. Interesting. My own 'method' works better when you don't have too many fishes.
I just put a bit of food paste on my fingertip and the fish swims up to eat, nibbling on my fingertip. (this wouldn't work painlessly with pirhanas, though...).
My Cajole doesn't aim well. She always gets excited and opens that huge mouth of hers beside the fingertip *chuckles* As to Enjolras, I'm happy she's got no teeth ! Fishy rascal.

Aw... I love handfeeding fish. Their mouths feel so delicate. They nibble my arm sometimes while I'm doing water changes. It feels like butterfly kisses. :)

Actually, Enjolras probably does have teeth. Apparently, nearly all fish have teeth... but they're right at the back of their mouths, almost in their throats. So when you see them chewing at their food, it's almost in their throats being mashed up for swallowing. Much safer for us fishkeepers than pirhanas, indeed...

    Aha ! I didn't know this !
So they've got teeth. Thanks for the info.
Next time I give them nori I'll watch them munch more closely. They're so funny anyway when their mouth is full.

Your fish must love you and trust you if they nibble your arm. How cute !

It is cute. :) But they only trust me enough to do it if I keep my arm perfectly still in the water for several minutes before they're brave enough to come over and see what I taste like.

Then one of them will investigate, and a few of the others will follow suit! I end up with a nice soggy hand from holding it in the water for ages, though...
