Schubert Music
Four hands fantasy for piano.
I believe it's a very well-known piece of music.
It's so very beautiful ! It has spun and spun in my head all day long. I thought I'd share it.
The first time I listened to it...
It was a few years ago. Two pianists had come to my little town to perform a four hands piano concert. They needed someone to turn the pages of the scores while they played, and as nobody seemed to be free that night, I was chosen.
I was so very nervous : I can't read music scores very swiftly, and I was terribly afraid of turning pages at wrong moments, thus ruining the concert. It was daunting, sitting in full light beside the grand piano, hands shaking. Then it began. Get up when they nearly played the end of a page, grab the corner of the page and carefully turn, then sit down : up, turn and down. Hopefully (for me) the pianist sitting closest to me gave me a nod to tell when he was ready to have the page turned.
Mozart, Faure...and Schubert ! They played the Four hands fantasy and it was a magic moment.
I don't have a CD of it, but I found the scores on the net. I deciphered the first two lines of it (playing what was intended for 4 hands - but if you look at the scores, you'll see the first lines can be played by a single person without a problem).
One day, I'd love to play it with Helene, my sister by music and friend.
If you get a cd of it, played by a proper pianist, it's far more better. I'll just put the begining of it played by Someone *wicked*. As said person is a nut with technology, and doesn't know how to record sounds, it's a movie. [don't mind the little mistakes, said person was quite nervous, playing for the picture-taker]
